Buses

Over 15,000 buses connect the inner city of Beijing with the suburbs covering over 10,000 square kilometers, running over 700 routes. The bus lines service a population of 12 million with effective daily traffic of 8.7 million passengers. Buses typically run every 5 to 8 minutes, operating from 5:00 am to 11:30 pm.

Beijing buses run a total of 480 million kilometers annually.

The sides of the buses offer wrap-around billboards; the interiors offer placards, seat-covers, footprints and even bus tickets as advertising media. With 31.50 square meters of available space for advertising on the bus exteriors alone, the entire fleet provides over 500,000 square meters in availabilities for advertisers.

11,000 bus stops provide over 20,000 square meters of billboard space.

In combination, the bus and outdoor shelter space provides over 50% of all available outdoor space in Beijing including:

  • Exterior Color Sticker Ads / Outside
  • Exterior Color Painted Ads / Outside
  • Interior Framed Poster Ads
  • Rear windshield ads with colored ribbons
  • Illuminated Bus Shelters

Subway

The 90 miles of Beijing Subway carry 1 million passengers per day in luxurious new trains that are heated and air-conditioned. They are comparable to the best new trains in the United States, and cut commuting time from Beijing to the suburbs.  Since subway fares are higher than bus fares they serve a higher-income rider.

By 2008, subway track mileage is projected to more than double.

There are currently 37 subway stops with large new well-lighted stations featuring ‘light boxes’ and billboards.

Waiting platforms in the stations and placards inside the subway cars offer a variety of media real estate to the advertiser.
